Can you actually make a Christmas TV-movie for $1.5 million Canadian?
Resourceful Robert Vaughn can and did. The Ontario-based director shot the charming holiday romance "Christmas Movie Magic." It is one of 24 new seasonal movie premieres streaming this month on Super Channel Heart & Home (one of our sponsors here at brioux.tv the podcast).
The film stars Holly Deveaux (Spun Out) and Drew Seeley and much of it takes place around one of my favourite neighbourhood cinemas, The Westdale in Hamilton, Ont.
It's about a reporter (played by Deveaux) who looks into a mystery in a small town:  a leading man comes north in the '50s to make a "White Christmas" style classic. A local lady captures his heart. Who was she and why didn't they remain a couple?
"Christmas Movie Magic" will also air on Lifetime in th US.
Vaughn -- no relation to the actor who played Napoleon Solo in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. back in the '60s -- is already busy shooting his next holiday movie in southern Ontario and has another out this month titled, "The Enchanted Christmas Cake."
Hear how the producer-director became part of the prolific holiday movie machine that has sprung up all across Canada.
